April 23, 2010 American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists to Focus on POEMs in Clinical Practice Guideline Development The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) today released the Protocol for Standardized Production of Clinical Practice Guidelines – 2010 Update. This protocol is designed to ensure that all subsequent clinical practice guidelines meet not only Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) standards, but also incorporate subjective factors that can improve patient outcomes. This protocol is an update of the first AACE guidelines for guidelines, published in 2004. In total, AACE has published 17 Clinical Practice Guidelines, nine of those have been published since 2004. Guidelines currently under development, which will adhere to the new protocol, will address hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, and acromegaly. (more) |
